I am a Research Associate at the Center for Genetic Epidemiology, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. My research focuses on human genomic variation and its role in shaping population history, ancestry, adaptation, and differential health risks.

I earned my doctoral degree from the Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. My research career began in forensic DNA fingerprinting at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, India, supported by a doctoral fellowship from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. I later continued my work at the CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, through a Research Associate fellowship from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

Since then, I have held postdoctoral, scientist, and research associate positions across several international institutions, including the Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health; Doñana Biological Station, Spain; Qatar University; State University of New York at Buffalo; Dasman Diabetes Institute, Kuwait; New York University Abu Dhabi; and Georgia Institute of Technology.

My work spans population genetics, computational genomics, genetic epidemiology, and evolutionary medicine, with a focus on human genetic diversity, ancestry, demographic history, adaptation, and disease-related genetic variation. I have authored 27 peer-reviewed research articles and two book chapters, and my contributions have been recognized through several awards and fellowships, including the Gabriel W. Lasker Award for outstanding contributions to human biology and population genetics.

I serve as an Editorial Board Member for the European Journal of Human Genetics and as a Review Editor for Frontiers in Genetics – Evolutionary and Population Genetics. I also review manuscripts for several international scientific journals and remain actively involved in professional scientific societies. In 2018, I briefly served as Acting Head of the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Core Facility at Dasman Diabetes Institute, Kuwait.
